Helena got a few results of other tests that were encouraging. Fortunately for her and her family, she soon could return home to rest. The night had fallen and the lamp on the nightstand beside her bed was the only source of light. A cup of tea in hand, she continued her story:
“-There was a few days left before my departure and I still haven’t talk to Benjamin again since our last discussion. I didn’t know if I should tell him I was leaving or if it was best that he discovers it by himself. My aunt noticed that I didn’t know what to do. She decided to bring me to a party she was invited to.
On our way home, my aunt told me she had announced to Benjamin what I dreaded to tell him to take a weight off my shoulders. I was a little frustrated that she haven’t minded her own business, I wanted to decide how to tell him myself, but part of me was telling myself it was perhaps better that way.
Turning the corner of the street, the first thing I saw was three fire engines. My aunt and I came out of the car quickly. Lydia’s house was on fire. My aunt fell on her knees, mouth wide open, watching the awful show she had in front of her. She had spent all her life in this house and all the memories that remained of my uncle was now reduced to dust. Watching the flames engulfed the house was horrible, but seeing this exceptional woman, who had done so much for me, collapse in pain like that was ten times harder.
I headed to a firefighter, asking him if they were able to control the fire. Negative. I asked him if he knew the origin of the fire. Negative. I asked him if he thought we were going to be able to get back a lot of things after the fire. Negative. At least I knew what to expect, but I didn’t want to reveal these informations, still little not clear, to my aunt. I went back to her, holding her in my arms, with gleaming eyes.
Suddenly, on the corner of my eyes I saw a silhouette on the corner of the street. I could not believe my eyes. I thought: “No Helena, it cannot be him, it is simply impossible! He would never go so far. You probably didn’t saw right.” After removing the tears that were confusing my sight, my first impression was confirmed. Benjamin looked at me in a rather strange way, as if he wanted to send me a message. And then he disappeared into obscurity.
-So he burnt the house of your aunt? Asked Tim, to be sure he understood.
-Yes.
-And what happened to him after that?
-Well, it was discovered a few days later that the fire was arson, which then confirmed my doubts. As the firefighter told me that night, we could not get much out of what remained of the house. And we couldn’t prove that Benjamin was behind it all. I had to go see him to put the record straight.
-You went to see this mental again?!
-What else did you wanted me to do? To leave it there like it was? If I could at least make him confess that he was the culprit, it would have been better. But now I know it was stupid to do that.

Helena was passing through the streets towards a specific destination. She realized as she was on her way that she never came inside the apartment of Benjamin. Once she arrived, she rang. No response. However, his parent’s car was parked down. She thought that the bell was broken. So she turned the handle. A corridor with two doors stood before her. The first door led to the bathroom while the second led to the bedroom of Benjamin. He wasn’t in either of them. She continued, arrived at the end of the corridor, to find herself into the kitchen, which was open on the dining room. Helena heard a few voices starting to rise in the living room. She went to the arch leading to the living room but still immunised from sight of anyone who was in the next room.
Before she could hear a single word of the fight going on between Benjamin and his parents she heard a strange noise followed by a sharp cry coming from her stepmother. She said while sobbing, “NO! But, Benjamin! What’s wrong with you? What have you done? This is your father after all! No, Benjamin, stay away from me. No, no, NO!” Her words were followed by a strange noise, like the first one she heard. And then it was silence, she could only hear her breath. She hesitated between going to see what was going on in the living room, to see if what she thought happened was really true, or get out of the apartment and run away.
Before she could make her decision, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching the wall that separated the living room and dining room. Benjamin passed in the ark and walked to the kitchen without seeing Helena immediately. When he turned around and saw her, he asked her what she was doing there. Helena opened her mouth to reply, but then she noticed red spots on his shirt and the knife he had just let go of in the sink.
“-Benjamin, what happened?
-It’s not what you think Helena, he said, approaching the dining table. Helena had a cringe telling him not to approach her.
-Lily? James? Is everything okay? Helena asked a little louder so that the people in the living room could hear her. No response. She continued: Benjamin, why are your parents not answering me? And do not tell me they were not there, I saw the car down there, in the parking.
-Look Helena, it’s more complicated than that.
-Oh my god. You killed them, your own parents.
-Arg! Shut up! They were already bugging me for long time. I’ll be better that way.
-Benjamin, you do not seem to realize the seriousness of your act. You killed two people! And now, you’ll go to jail for that!
-No, not if no one denounce me.
Helena realized that she was trapped. If she ran to the neighbor to call 911, Benjamin would have time to escape before they arrive. But if she was staying there, he would probably kill her. After all, he had murdered his own parents, what would stop him from killing her?
-Why did you come here Helena?
There was only one way out. Her chances of success were low, but slightly higher than anything else she could try.
-I came here to tell you that I was ready to move in with you.
Benjamin looked at her, astonished. He was not expecting that at all.
-But, that’s not what your aunt told me.
-That’s what she deducted from my silence, she said, approaching slowly from Benjamin. She meant well by telling you what she told you. But I realized that I felt for you, feelings I had never felt towards anyone else before. Do you think we could be like we were at the beginning of the summer?
-You’re bluffing. A few seconds ago, you were furious, and now you’re ready to live with me?!
-And why would I be bluffing? To save my life because I know you killed your parents? What would be the point? You’re stronger than me anyway, I would have no chance. And you know me; I am able to wipe out some things that I do not agree with if in the end I can be happy.
Helena approached a little closer to him, making sure he was not armed anymore. He was looking at her suspiciously.
-I still have doubts … Prove to me that you don’t want to betray me, he said.
Helena pulled out a stack of banknotes of her purse and she placed it on the table.
“I had taken a certain amount of money so we could escape together (she had brought out the money to return home.) And my bags are waiting in the taxi down in the parking (she had folded her luggage in order to return home). You can go check if you want.
He went out on the balcony of the apartment and looked down to see the taxi that was waiting in the courtyard. Helena went to the sink and seized what Benjamin had left in it a few seconds before. She returned to the exact spot where she was before Benjamin went to verify what she had said. Helena had had time to return to her original position when he came back inside. She was nervous, but tried her best not to let it show and play the game.
-So, can we just start over now? She said.
Benjamin looked at her indecisively and suspiciously. Should he believe her and risk his freedom or eliminate her and maybe kill the love of his life? Helena saw that Benjamin was still on his guards, but that he almost believed her. So she approached him and kissed him passionately. Benjamin hesitated the first few seconds, but finally seized Helena’s waist and he returned her kiss.
They took their breath back while hugging each other, and Benjamin said:
“It’s ok, I believe you now. You’ll see, we’ll have a dream life together.
Suddenly, Helena got the knife out of her sleeve and planted it in Benjamin’s leg. He uttered a scream of pain.
-Yes, in your dreams.
She released the knife that remained in the thigh of Benjamin, who collapsed of pain on the floor.
-Oh, you fucking bitch! ”
Helena turned back to go call the police, but Benjamin to grabbed her foot, making her fall. She hit her head hard on the table, but remained conscious. Benjamin was holding Helena’s right foot with one hand, the other trying to take the knife out of his muscles. Helena gave him a kick in the face, leaving him unconscious. His nose was probably broken.
She got back up quickly and grabbed the phone. She called the police station and they told her to be careful and that relief would arrive shortly. She went beside the inanimate body and bent down to take the knife lying next to him. When she rose, she gave him a few kicks in belly and suddenly, her foot was seized by Benjamin’s hand, who had just regained consciousness. He pulled on her leg to make her fall again and to make her letting go of to the knife. She bent down quickly to the young man’s thigh, and thrust one more time the knife in the wound. He released Helena, writhing in pain. Helena gave him another blow to the head, making him unconscious again.
Catching her breath back, she watched the silhouette of her former lover with scorn. She wondered how she could have been able to feel such strong feelings for someone so terrifying. Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind: Lily and James, the parents of Benjamin. She went towards the living room, not knowing exactly what to expect. When she entered the room, the first thing she saw was a male body on the floor, arms and legs in not really reassuring positions, and another body, female this time, on the couch, covered with blood.
*
“-The scene was horrible to watch. I had before me the bodies of two completely innocent people, an unconscious arsonist killer in the dining room and all I could do was wait for the relief and contemplate the horror I had before my eyes. Finally, help arrived five minutes later. When they came in, I was locked in the bathroom, trying to clarify my mind. They took me and Benjamin (still unconscious) and brought us to the police station, in different cars of course.
They interrogated me and I told them the whole story. When Benjamin woke up and had been questioned, he denied everything and put everything on my fault. He said he broke up with me the day before and I had came to see him to beg him to come back with me and that, seeing that its decision was taken, I was angry and I had attacked him. He said his parents had arrived to his apartment after that, discovering their son unconscious and his former girlfriend with a knife in her hand. He then said that I would have killed them because of the fear I had for them to kill me. He said after that, that I would have offered him the money that was left on the table against his silence and happiness with me. In his version, he tried to reach the phone but I would have hit him again. He concluded by saying that I had called 911, making me pass for the victim instead of him so I could be free.
I was really afraid to be the one imprisoned instead of him. But I had not touched the body of my former in-laws while the Benjamin’s footprints were covering the corpses.
He was thrown into a cell and I have never seen him again. I didn’t know how long he was condemned to remain in prison: the less information I knew about him, the better I was. I needed therapy for a year to get over it completely. I thought I was done hearing about him, but it doesn’t seem so…
Helena looked down, joining her hands. There, she said everything, it was all released. She didn’t like to talk about this period of her life, but she felt that a weight on her shoulders was now removed after she confessed herself to Tim. He looked at Helena and couldn’t help but ask her a question:
-Was he the one who was driving the other car the night of the accident?
Helena looked at Tim sadly.
-That’s what the paper said…
Tim put his head in his hands. He did not expect such a story. What could he do now to protect his family? He straightened up and stood up to join Helena in the hospital bed. She moved a little bit to make some place for Tim in the bed.
-You are safe now, he told her.
-Thank you. Thank you for being here for me.
They kissed each other
They spent the night huddled against each other in the small hospital bed to comfort each other

I know I’m posting this one later than the other came, but I have tons of work to do! Sorry! :)
———————————————————————————————————
The rain had stopped but it was still really dark outside. Tim passed the door with two coffees in his hands. He gave one to Helena, who answered with a little thank you.
“Let’s continue, she started. So, already more than the half of the summer was passed and I was perfectly happy. One day, Benjamin took his father’s convertible and we drove to the entrance of a forest out of town. We got off the car and took the small path to sink deeper into the forest of hardwoods.
A few moments later, we were arrived at destination: a little meadow surrounded by trees was in front of us. The high grass varied between yellow and green shades, a few flowers and other types of plants beautifully broke the regularity of the landscape. It was our spot, where nobody could find us. We felt like we were alone in the world. I think I’ve never seen something comparable to this. Well, we passed a good part of the day over there. And then, we came up to the unavoidable subject…
*
The two lovers were lying down, bonded against each other, in the high grass. They appreciated this moment they had only the two of them together, in peace. But a thought came trouble the spirit of the young lady.
“-What are we gonna do? Sighed Helena.
-About what?
-Well, summer’s almost over, I’ll have to go back home soon, miles from here, even though I don’t want to.
-But you do have the choice, what are you saying? Said Benjamin with a mocking tone.
-Stop it, it’s serious, what are we going to become?
-Nothing’s gonna change since we have the possibility to not leave each other.
-What?
-Well, I’m 18 and you’re 16, so, you can leave your parent’s house to come live with me, in my apartment.
Helena was taken aback by this solution. Everything seemed so simple for him. But he wouldn’t be the one to have to quit everything. Her heart was torn apart: she loved him more than everything, but she still wasn’t ready to leave her parents, her friends and all the memories that enclosed each of the places of her hometown. Benjamin saw the confusion on Helena’s face. He then realized they were not on the same wavelength.
-So, what do you think? He asked.
Helena looked at Benjamin right in the eyes, not knowing how to express her answer without letting him down. She was scared by his reaction. The young woman gathered her courage and started:
-I don’t think I’m able to leave everything I have since I was young now and…
-What? Cut Benjamin, feeling the anger winning on him.
They look each other in the eyes a few moments, in a perfect silence, trying to understand the reaction of the other. Benjamin continued:
-But I thought you truly loved me, that it wasn’t just a simple summer love.
-But it is real! I love you more than I ever loved someone. I just can’t leave everything like this! You ask me to quit all my life and to start a complete new one.
-So what? Wouldn’t you be ready to do it for me? For us?
Helena couldn’t understand his reaction. He was always so caring for her usually. She was looking down, having the impression to be less than nothing, to let him down. Benjamin stood up, turning his back to her and putting his hands on his head.
-I never asked you anything and at the first little thing that would need a little contribution from you, you refuse!
It was going too far now. She stood up too, realizing that she didn’t had to bow to all of Benjamin’s requests and that she didn’t need to endure his mood swing.
-Look Ben, it seems like, in your opinion, I haven’t engaged fully in this couple. But the truth is that I put everything I could in it to make it go forward.
Benjamin turned back, facing her, showing his raging eyes.
-And now you are giving up.
Helena was speechless by this accusation. He was calling her a quitter when she invested heart and soul into this relationship.
-I wanna go back at my aunt’s house, she said while going closer to the trees. Benjamin grabbed her arm strongly.
-We haven’t finished yet, he said with a clenched jaw.
-Hey, stop that, you’re hurting me.
An intense eye contact between them was making the incomprehension for each other growing faster.
-Benjamin, take your hands off me.
-I’m not letting you go until we fixed this.
-Fine, but take your hands off.
On that, he listened to her.
-What’s happening to you? She asked. Since when can’t we talk to each other calmly? And what now, you can’t control yourself anymore?
-STOP IT NOW! He screamed. DON’T BLAME ME FO EVERYTHING!
-I’m not blaming you for anything. It’s nobody’s fault.
-None of this would have happened if there’s no one to blame Helena.
-Well, it wasn’t and isn’t a game to me. All of this is true.
-Then why are you betraying me? He said, increasing his voice again.
-But I don’t wanna lose you Benjamin, clarified Helena. I just can’t simply make a decision.
-You’re gonna have to make one anyway, whether you like it or not. It’s them, or it’s me.”
Benjamin stayed a few seconds looking at Helena’s expression after his ultimatum. He then turned back and took and upset step forward the trees to go back on the path.
*
“-I was standing there, in the middle of the meadow, replaying in my head the entire scene that just happened. A few seconds later, I decided that I would take my way back to the trail too so I could go back at my aunt’s house. When I got out of the forest, he was waiting for me in the car. I got in the car and he drove me to Lydia’s home. We haven’t said a word during the entire ride or even cast a glance just to check the state of mind of the other.
When I closed the front door, I rushed to the stairs to get to my room. But no sooner had I climbed six steps that my aunt called me, asking me if everything was alright. The only answer she got was the tears that were running down my cheeks. I walked down the few stairs I had climbed a few moments before, to go refuge myself into her arms and burst into tears on her shoulder. We stayed like that for a moment and she whispered in my ear: “There’s no love without pain, sweetheart.”
After that, a few days passed where I took stock on the things that happened. My decision was made: I would go back home. I was telling myself that, if Benjamin and I were made for each other, we’d end up together. What a chance that it didn’t happened, I don’t even want to imagine what could have happen if I would have been more vulnerable.”
Helena saw in her head a few images of what was coming afterward. She was holding back her tears, as her throat was becoming tighter and tighter. Tim didn’t like to see Helena like that. In fact, he had never seen her struggling like that since her father’s death, in 2004. He was feeling the pain that she tried to keep locked safely, deep in her heart, hoping that one day she could forget everything. He was sorry to have to make her, somehow, relive these moments that seemed so disturbing for her. But he had to know so he could help her afterward. Only by seeing her wonderful face showing painfully such weakness and vulnerability, he understood why she never mentioned those things.
———————————————————————————————————
I’m not satisfied by it, not my best and it’s a little bit shorter than the 2 last chapters. But hope you guys still liked it! And it’s killing me to write, you know, a sad Helena. But you’ll see, she’s a strong woman!! And I wanted to show a little bit of Tim’s sweetness towards Helena too :) Tell me what you think about the whole thing!! ;)

Her condition was stable now. Stress was not good for her in her condition, she had a relapse. Luckily, the nurse had arrived just before the panic attack increases.
About thirty minutes later, Helena was watching the rain falling through the large window, looking worried, when three taps were heard at the door.
“-Dinner is served! said two little voices that she recognized when she heard the first syllable they spoke. The two children ran into the arms of their mothers. She kissed her daughter and son on their head.
-How are you? Asked Tim, seeing that Helena didn’t have the same expression as when he left her earlier.
Helena looked up at him, understanding that, even though she was an actress by profession, she couldn’t lie to her husband. And she didn’t want to either.
-I’ll tell you later, okay?
-Okay.
-Good! Now, let’s eat the dinner because I’m starving! What have you brought me bunch of little monsters?
-Lasagna! said Nell.
-Oh! My favorite meal! exclaimed Helena.
-That’s why we decided that it would be our family meal of the day, revealed Tim.
-And for dessert, we brought a black forest cake, says Billy.
-Yum! So we eat? » Asked Helena.
Billy and Nell were installed at the table that Tim had brought closer to the bed and he was sitting in the chair next to it. So they ate their lunch, gathered together for the first time since 2 weeks.
A few hours later, Tim and Helena were now alone in the hospital room. He was sitting in the chair, his left ankle on his right knee, and she was still lying in bed. The weather outside was dark, the rain was intense and some lightning were warning of their presence from time to time. The doctor came to see them a few minutes ago. He had described the long list of injuries that Helena suffered and had told them she would stay about three more days in the hospital. “It could be worst” she was telling herself.
“-So, what’s the matter? asked Tim.
Helena took a deep breath before launching into a description of her long story.
-Where would I start? said Helena, talking to herself.
-Maybe by beginning? said Tim.
-Yes, the beginning, of course …
Helena could still see how it all began.
-When I was 16, I spent my summer at my aunt Lydia’s in Venice. She lived in a neighborhood of rich people. She lived alone: my uncle died of pancreatic cancer when I was 8. My aunt suffered a very deep and dark bereavement that led her to depression, but she finally managed to get by. So, when I arrived, my aunt took me to my room, which was on the third floor. I had an unobstructed view of the city. It was wonderful.
So the next evening, my aunt had organized a party in honor of my arrival, to welcome me and introduce me to people I’d pass some time with during the summer. “
*
“-Helena! Are you ready? Lydia asked at the door of the chamber of Helena.
-Yes aunt Lydia! Well, almost, said Helena, looking in the mirror of her cabinet. A summer away from home could do her the most good she thought. She was always willing to escape the pitfalls of everyday life for two months, especially at her aunt’s that she loved so much. She opened the door of her room and saw Lydia as expected.
-Wow! You are beautiful Helena, said Lydia. It’s time to go now: we mustn’t make our guests wait.
-Of course. “
The two girls went down to the ground floor together. When they were there, Helena was impressed by all the people there was. All of those with whom she had the chance to talk to seemed really nice, but she was getting tired of being asked all the same redundant questions.
Suddenly, small strokes of spoon on a glass were heard. Lydia was on the fourth step of the stairs, calling the attention of her guests.
“Excuse me everyone. I’d like to have your attention for a moment. So, as you all know, I organized this evening to say welcome to my niece who will spend the summer here. So, Helena, I hope you have a great time with me. I also hope that you will fall in love with Venice as fast as your uncle and me did. I am very happy to have you with me for all this time, even if I already know it’s gonna pass so fast! And I also count on tonight’s guests to entertain you, because I can’t do it alone after all! So, I want to make a toast to my fabulous niece who deserves to be known. “
Lydia raised her glass of champagne and the guests did the same. Helena was very honored to be the recipient of this wonderful speech. She raised her glass and whispered a thank you to her aunt.
Then, a young man caught her attention. His brown hair, a little longer than short and his dark brown eyes made him look elegant and mysterious. He was moving confidently on his long legs. He seemed appreciated by a lot of people. Despite all of this, Helena thought he was releasing something interesting, something she had never seen before.
Suddenly his eyes met the observing ones of Helena. She immediately turned around, feeling embarrassed. She hoped he hadn’t noticed that she was looking at him from head to foot a few seconds before. A finger touched her shoulder twice so that she’d turn around. There was no doubt: she was caught in a trap. She turned and found herself face to face with the mysterious young man who intrigued her so much.
”- Well Helena, don’t you know that it’s not a good manner to stare at people like that?
-I’m really sorry, I…
-I was only joking, don’t worry, cut the young man with a radiant smile.
-Oh.
Helena looked down feeling a little intimidated by the boy.
-My name is Benjamin, Benjamin Barker.
-And I’m…
-Helena Bonham Carter, yeah, I know, he cut her again.
-Are you going to let me finish at least one sentence?
-Well, I just did, he said with a victorious smile.
Usually, she always had something to say back, but now, she couldn’t think of anything.
-So, why are you coming to spend the summer here? He asked.
-Why should I tell you?
-First of all, because I’m asking you and second of all, because I want to know.
-And why do you want to know?
-To make the conversation and get to know you.
-Oh right, she said after taking a sip of champagne.
-So, why are you spending your summer here?
-I’ve answered that question at least a thousand of times tonight.
-Ok then, tell me one thing you haven’t told anyone here tonight.
-What?
-Oh, come on! Just do it!
-But, what’s the point?
-Look, we’ll do something: tell me one thing about you that you haven’t told anyone tonight and I’ll do the same.
-Ok then, said Helena playing the game. Hum… I have to pee.
He looked at her with surprise, and they both started to laugh.
-I wasn’t expecting that! said Benjamin.
-What were you expecting then?
-I don’t know, something more… private?
-What do you want more private than what I do in the bathroom?!
He started laughing again. He loved her sense of humor.
-Ok, your turn, she said.
-I came here tonight without any invitation.
-You really did?
-Yeap.
-But everyone seems to like you so much.
-On that, I have my own little theory: One person cannot be appreciated by everyone but can’t be hated by everyone too. Some people have more enemies and some have more friends. But it’s not the number of each side that counts; it’s the one that has the strongest determination that makes the others think that there’s only one side that exist for a certain person. But, this person is the big master of this game: he has to choose whether to care of what people think of him (if that’s what he chooses, then he doesn’t do things for him, but to please the others just to keep his reputation and he’s not being himself, he’s not free) or to not give a fuck about the opinion of people and just do whatever the hell he wants just because he wants to do it. That one is the one who’s standing for freedom and that is not being fake. And that’s the kind of men I’m trying to be.
-Wow! Said Helena very surprised by the speech he just gave her. You’re a really good theory creator!”
He smiled and looked down, flattered but still thinking she was funny. She was showing an honest smile while looking at him.
*
“-So we kept on talking like that for the rest of the night, getting to know each other, Helena said to Tim.
-And then he became your boyfriend, presumed Tim.
-Well, we passed more days together and I did fall in love with him. Foolish teenage girl typical summer love.”
After saying this, Helena was seized by a violent cough. Tim got up quickly to see if his beloved one was alright. The cough wouldn’t stop, so he gave her water and the cough started to stop. All of her body was hurting. She was hoping this pain wouldn’t last too long. She had to have all of her energy if he was back.

Reviews are always welcomed ;)
When she opened her eyes, her vision was blurred and she could only see white. After a few seconds, her eyes adjusted themselves to the light and she could finally see the environment in which she was in. Pale walls, no decoration and an old armchair beside the bed, a bed that was not hers. To this surprising discovery, she wanted to sit up but was quickly stopped by the pain one move caused her.
She then noticed all the needles that were implanted in her veins. She noted her leg cast and all these scratches from top to the bottom of her body. It was after her findings that she started to freak out, wondering what could possibly have happened to bring her into the dim room. “What am I doing here? Where are my husband and my children? What happened?” Were just some of many questions that chained themselves in the mind of Helena.
She turned her head looking for something to cling on. Near the button to call the nurse rested a bouquet of colorful flowers adding life to the neutral room and a glass of water was placed next to the transparent vase. Her throat was so dry. When she tried to stretch her arm to catch the glass of water, a young woman with golden blonde hair and dressed in a sweater and light blue pants a little too big for her size entered the room.
“Wait! Wait!” Said the nurse heading to the night table.
Helena rested her head on the pillow while the nurse made her drink a few sips from the glass.
“-There you go. Don’t drink too fast, the nurse continued.
-Thank you, answered Helena in a voice still a little hoarse.
-You’re welcome dear. My name is Joana. I’m the one who’s taking care of you since two weeks.
-What do you mean by “two weeks”? It can’t be two weeks that I’m lying here! Just yesterday evening, I was at the British movie awards in London and I came back limo…, her voice fainting while her memories were coming back.
-Continue, Ms. Bonham Carter, insisted Joana.
-Well, I was in the limo with Tim, Billy and Nell. Tim uncorked a bottle of champagne when a light blinded me, remembered Helena. And then I woke up here a few minutes ago, said Helena, hesitating. What happened?
-Are you sure that you don’t remember anything else?
-No, I just told you everything I remember. What happened? replied Helena with more impatience.
-A car collided into your limo and … “
Helena’s heart almost stopped when she heard these words. Time froze. A heavy weight had dropped on her shoulders, crushing her in the bottom of her bed, forcing her to stay wallowing in that position forever. A great sense of panic and despair invaded her, allowing no air flow through the lungs. The world collapsed under her. The room seemed even more morbid, the flowers faded under her eyes and all that was left was nothing. The nurse was still talking, but Helena no longer heard any of it. With tears in the eyes, she could finally get some words out from her mouth: “Where are they? Are they ok? “
Having an inscrutable face, Joana opened her mouth to answer, without knowing where to start. Just when she was able to get a sound out of her mouth, Helena’s attention was captivated elsewhere: a man with graying hair appeared in the door frame. He was tall, had small dark brown eyes and a beard of a few days. His hair was long, curly and tousled. His face was very pale, which brought out the dark circles under his eyes.
Helena examined him from head to foot. “Tim?” She murmured. When the man heard the voice of his wife say his name, he advanced hastily towards her to give her a kiss on the forehead, reassured and pleased to discover that the love of his life had finally awakened from her deep sleep. The nurse left the room, leaving the two lovers to their reunion. They exchanged a passionate kiss, Helena putting her hands on the cheeks of her husband while he was passing one of his hands in her hair. When the kiss ended, they hugged each other, realizing how much they needed to be together for the rest of their lives.
“-You cannot know how worried I was! said Tim.
-No, in fact, I understand what you felt. Are you ok?
-My forehead was opened a bit and I have a broken arm, but that’s okay.
-And the children? Helena replied with speed.
-Well, I don’t know if you remember, but the second before the impact, you’ve thrown yourself on them to protect them, just like shield. Because of that, you’ve saved both of our treasures.
She tried to remember, but in vain.
-Nell has only a few stitches. But Billy had a strong impact on the head. He did get a few tests to see if everything was fine, and everything is perfect.
Helena was relieved to hear this news. Everyone was alive and that was all that mattered. The feeling of total emptiness she felt earlier was leaving her little by little.
-You’re the one who got the most injuries, continued Tim, taking the hand of his wife. You had an operation and they lost you for ten seconds.
Helena looked at Tim, him with sad eyes and her with eyes full of questions, not knowing how to react to the news. Before she could say anything, her husband took out a small bundle of sheets from the inner pocket of his coat. She guessed it was some drawings he had done because Tim was very artistic. He expressed himself more with visual art than any of the existing way to communicate. She took the sheets in her hands. A few seconds later, she recognized they represented all of the unforgettable moments they spent together so far. It was their story. Helena looked at Tim straight in the eyes, touched. He resumed gently:
- I came out of the room where they made my cast when a nurse came up to me to inform me of your condition. At this point, I realized that I could possibly never look again in your beautiful sparkling eyes, hear your so charming laughter, see your face light up in a second, your fabulous smile and, above all, never have the chance to tell you how much I care about you.
She put her right hand on the rough cheek of her husband, her thumb wiping a tear that had escaped from the control of her husband.
-Thanks, she said weakly, tears in the eyes. I love you.
-I love you too.
They took advantage of this moment a few more seconds when Tim finally broke the silence:
-Look, I’ll go to the grocery store to get us a good lunch. Then, I’ll go pick up the kids and we’ll all eat together. What do you think?
-It’d be perfect” she replied after a little smile.
After a last kiss, Tim left the room, leaving Helena alone. She sighed with relief, thinking that everything was now almost finished. She saw a newspaper lying on the shelf of bed. She sat up, not without any difficulty, to take it. It was a newspaper that appeared about two weeks ago. A car and a limousine, or at least the carcasses of two vehicles, represented the first page. It was an accident, the accident. Lost in all the thoughts that jostled in her head, she opened the newspaper to read the article. “What else could I do anyway? After all, I need to kill time! So as well do it by trying to remember something.” She told herself. Before she started to read the article, she saw a name in the middle of the article.
“Benjamin Barker”.
The nightmare was starting again.

Just in time for the week end! :D Hope you guys like it (personaly, I like this one better than chapter 1 ;) ). Tell me what you think, what you liked or didn’t liked. Well, tell me EVERYTHING!
I know I tagged this in Tilena, Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton, but this might be the only Chapter I tag like that because I don’t want to annoy people in the tags and everything.
But please take a look at the Chapter 1 of my fiction and tell me what you think!
———————————————————————————————————
This was not the first award night she attended, but she felt that it would be different tonight. Was it because it was the first time she brought her children to this kind of event? She had no idea. Helena and Tim, her husband, had decided it was better not to bring their children, Billy and Nell, on the red carpet to avoid exposure to media criticism. They’d catch them up inside, where the entrance was forbidden to paparazzi.
Once the couple was out of the limo, they could immediately hear the criticism begin. Helena felt confident and loved her dress, although it would certainly earn her the title of one of the worst dressed of the evening, like most of the time. It was the part she didn’t like of her job: always be judged on physical appearance. But she was deemed to prioritize comfort instead of style, to stay herself and not following the standards just to please others. “Here we go again” whispered Tim in the ear of his beloved one, who smiled at these words.
The couple hold their hands and began to cross the red carpet, while posing for pictures and answering a few interviews. After a few minutes they were inside and were looking for their seats, which weren’t too hard to find since Nell and Billy were already there with their nanny. They went to sit with their children, waiting for the show to begin. Nell’s little voice whispered to Helena: “You are very pretty mom. I love you.” No matter what will happen tonight, this was the best award she could win.
It was the fateful moment. Now it was the category where Helena was nominated. She was a little stressed, but was appeased by the hand of her husband which was now inserted in hers.
It is with surprise and joy she heard her name pronounced with resonance in the speakers, followed by a shower of applause. Of course, she worked hard to get that far, but she was still surprised. She went on stage, shaking legs, and made a nervous speech but full of humor and sincerity, thanking everyone who helped her becoming the women she was today, and who had supported her in all her projects.
A few hours later, the award night was over, interviews given and autographs signed. Helena and her companions went to the party organized for the nominees and winners of the evening. Everyone congratulated her for the price. She spent a good time and was glad of all the things that were happening to her, but now, she only had one desire: return home with her family and celebrate together in private, away from the paparazzi and all that media circus.
They said goodbye to the other guests and went to the limo reserved for them.
“-We had a great evening! Billy said all happy.
-Really? asked Helena.
-Yes! did the two children together.
-In addition, you won mom! Nell said.
-And we must celebrate that in big” said Tim while getting out a bottle of champagne in the small refrigerator of the limousine.
Helena had barely the time to be blinded by two headlights before a violent impact struck the limousine, taking them all off guard. The collision was brutal and turned that magical night into chaos. This moment changed everything.
Article from London’s newspaper:
Last night took place the British films awards in London. But the event did not finish as expected. We learned this morning some tragic news: the actress Helena Bonham Carter, director, producer, writer & artist Tim Burton, and their two children, Billy and Nell Burton, were involved in a car accident at about twenty-three o’clock. The family was in the limo when a black car drove into the left side of the limousine. Speed and alcohol may be involved. The identity of the car’s driver is not revealed yet. The driver of the limousine was injured, but the famous family is now between life and death. More details to come.
